Introducing nutritionist Julie Dudley
Hello! I am excited about participating in your journey to stay healthy through the brand new 2023 3D-Fit Challenge at amp studio. I want to help you ditch the diet mentality and eliminate all the “rules” you place on yourself about eating. Healthy looks different for everyone, and there is no “one size fits all” strategy or quick fix. We are each unique in our health needs and personal goals.
Achieving optimum health and wellness requires balance. There is no exact prescription for exercise or diet that makes a person well but rather a well-balanced life overall. If your rigorous exercise routine, clean diet, and meditation practice cause you to stress, that isn’t healthy!
I am a nutritionist and wellness coach with a background in functional fitness and personal training. My passion for helping people become healthier began when I started my family. I wanted to model a balanced, healthy lifestyle with enough energy to keep up with two rowdy boys! ( I also secretly dreamed about looking like a fitness model on the cover of Runner’s World magazine.) I read everything about nutrition and exercise that I could get my hands on. It did not take long for me to realize that eating less, running like Forest Gump, and striving for a fitness model body were sucking the life out of me. I literally “healthied” myself to death! I wondered why I felt terrible while eating salads, running 10 miles a day, raising kids, and beating myself up if I missed a workout or ate something off-limits.
Feeling fearless at forty, I returned to school for a degree in nutrition science. I wanted to know the facts and science behind food and how to eat to feel better. I changed my focus from looking good and performing well to feeling good and being truly healthy. I needed to learn, practice, and then use my experience to empower others.
There is a lot of conflicting information about nutrition and how to achieve optimum health. It often seems complicated to discern between facts and opinions. I have learned over the past 18 years while working in the fitness industry and as a nutritionist in a clinical setting that our cultural obsession with weight and appearance has led to confusion and unhealthy behaviors. What our body “should” look like, according to the media, has taken the joy out of our experiences and caused us to compare ourselves to others. Comparison only leads to feelings of failure and the inability to live authentically.
Achieving optimal health and wellness requires balance and authenticity. When we live authentically, the way God made us, and seek balance with lifestyle choices, exercise, and nutrition, our quality of life will significantly improve, enabling us to live to our fullest potential.
When we eat good, we feel good. When we feel good, we do good!
