Client Profile: Meet Kristin Meyer
In January 2021, Kristin Meyer could barely jog two miles. In December 2021, the 58-year-old amp studio client crossed the finish line of her first half-marathon, running 13.1 miles without stopping. It is a feat that this mom and grandmother never thought she’d accomplish at this stage of life. But thanks to the support of her amp studio community, she is finding her inner athlete and pushing her limits both in and out of the studio.
“I feel so much stronger now and that translates to other areas of my life,” she says happily. “I feel ready to take on more challenges now than I did even just four years ago.”
Meyer, who can often be found working out with her youngest daughter Mallory, or daughter-in-law Candice, first joined the amp studio community in 2018. Having recently left a fast-paced, high-energy job as a nurse, she was “depressed,” and looking for something to lift her spirits. After her first cycle class, she was hooked!
“I just fell in love with it,” she recalls.
Today, Meyer can be found in the studio multiple times per week, combining cycle and strength training classes (check out our Alon schedule here) with amazing results.
“I’m in better shape strength-wise at 58 than I’ve ever been,” she says, adding that before joining amp studios she couldn’t sit, squat, or bend her knees without pain. “Now I squat with weights!”
The physical changes aren’t the only benefits that Meyer says she gets from amp studio. Mentally, she says the workouts clear her mind and help her to focus and stay present both in and out of class. Learn more about the impact of exercise on mental health here.
“I know if I’ve had a bad day at work I can come here and work it out,” she says.
Meyer’s hard work is a constant source of inspiration to both her classmates and her instructors. But her own motivation comes from within.
“My dad died at the age of 60 and I want to make sure that I am around to watch my children and grandchildren grow up,” she explains.
Finding her inner athlete at the age of 58 and being part of what she describes as our “energizing and encouraging” community is what keeps Meyer going strong, and it is the epitome of the “all my people” philosophy that drives the amp studios brand.
“When you surround yourself with the right people you can literally do anything,” she says.
We couldn’t agree more!
